Operating Income, Operating Profit; Gewinn (Ergebnis der gewöhnlichen Geschäftstätigkeit) vor Ertragsteuern und Zinsen (Finanzergebnis). EBIT ist eine im angelsächsischen Raum gebräuchliche Kennzahl, die eine von der Finanzstruktur des Unternehmens unabhängige Beurteilung der Ertragskraft aus der operativen Geschäftstätigkeit ermöglicht (ähnlich dem in Deutschland üblichen ⇡ Betriebsergebnis). Dadurch kann zwischen Unternehmen mit unterschiedlichen Fremdkapitalanteilen Vergleichbarkeit hergestellt werden.
